The Vancouver Canucks have re-signed starting starting goaltender Dan Cloutier to a two-year contract.
Cloutier, 29, posted a record of 33-21-6 for the Canucks in 2003-04 with five shutouts and a goals-against average of 2.27. He became the first Canucks goaltender to post three straight 30-win seasons. The deal is worth $2.5 million US a season, according to a source.
"Dan has grown as a person and a player in Vancouver and is now at an age when NHL goaltenders traditionally reach the prime of their careers," Canucks general manager Dave Nonis said in a release.
Cloutier, from Mont-Laurier, Que., played last season in Austria for Klagenfurter and his record was 7-0-5 with a GAA of 1.94.
